The British are coming
British Airways, that is. For those of you who didn't chase the links in my last post, the primier air service from the other side of the pond donated the last of their retired Concordes to the Museum of Flight in Seattle. Alpha Golf (tail number G-BOAG) arrived Wednesday afternoon just before 2:30, and will now reside on the ramp at Boeing field until the Museum's new wing for large commercial aircraft is completed. While it was a very brief show--the flight came in from the north after a record-setting, supersonic dash over the virtually unihabbited part of northern Canada, making one overhead pass leading into a lefthand pattern for 31L--I was glad that I had the opportunity to see this unique aircraft in the air. After landing, Alpha Golf taxied back towards the museum wagging her nose and waving British and American flags from the cockpit windows. I didn't hang around for the arrival ceremonies, which were delayed first by a broken tug and again by faulty airstairs, but I am planning to go back for the tour in a couple weeks when the museum opens her up to the public. I am hopeful that I was able to get some good pictures, but I won't know how they turned out until I can finish up the second roll of film and get them developed. Maybe one of my more web-savvy friends can help me get them posted on here, but if that doesn't work out I will definitely send prints to all of the aviophiles down at LU.

Why is it
that whenever I have inspiration to write I have no time, and when I have time to write (like right now) I have no inspiration. I'm sure there was something rolling around in my head for the past week that I kept thinking I would put up on my blog as soon as I got the chance. Now here I am with pretty much the rest of the day free and I can not remember what it was I wanted to say. Murphy strikes again.

I went in to work for a couple of hours this morning so that I could take some time off on Wednesday afternoon. You might wonder what could possibly be happening Wednesday afternoon that would get me out of bed at 4:30 on a Monday morning after a Sunday night hockey game. To answer that question, I refer you the the Seattle Museum of Flight. All of you aviation enthusiasts stuck in east Texas may now turn green with envy. You could make the trip to New York, DC, or even out here to see the thing sitting on the ground, but we all know that is not the intended use of an airplane. So I will be leaving my desk a little early Wednesday to see her in flight for the last time.

It starts with the shoe. Maybe the next day it's a t-shirt or a sock. You don't know if the washing machine ate it, or your roommate borrowed it a month ago and forgot that it was yours. All you know is that by the end of the week, you're walking to class naked because you don't have any clothes left.
