The last Monday ever...
I have worked my last Monday ever...or at least for the forseeable future. No, I have not been laid off; I have simply decided to take advantage of a wonderful Boeing benefit called flex-time. Flex-time allows you to work any one of a few different standard alternate schedules without any kind of special arrangements or approval. The three basic schedules are:
Five 8-hour days per week (called 5x8's)
Eight 9-hour days and one 8-hour day every two weeks (9-80's)
Four 10-hour days per week (4x10's)

So I am now working 4x10's with Mondays off. It seems like a really good idea. Rather than Monday being the worst day of the week, it will now be a day for me to recover from the weekend. This will be extra-helpful, as the Boeing hockey league starts up its fall season this Sunday night (the games are all on Sunday nights, with the last game of the evening finishing up between 12:00 and 12:30). Between hockey and soccer on the weekends and not getting home until pretty late Sunday night, it will be nice not to have to get up at 5:30 on Monday morning. And whenever I do decide to get out of bed, I will have the golf course practically to myself. The drawback, of course, is that the remaining days of the week will seem extremely long at first, but I'm hoping that I will adjust in a couple of weeks and they will just start to feel like normal days.

In other news, a group from my church just returned from South Africa where they did some ground work for a mission organization called Agathos. Most of them got back a week ago, and yesterday I had the opportunity to hear a little bit about their trip while dining with some friends who went on the trip. One of my friends decided while she was there that she wanted to be more involved. She returned to the states with the rest of the team, but will only spend a total of three weeks here before going back to South Africa for at least a year. It is pretty amazing to see how God is moving in her life through this experience.

And now, for the weekly soccer update: I was only in goal for about three quarters of the game. One of the other guys on the team said he would play keep for a few minutes so I could get some time out on the field, which was a lot of fun. I gave up one goal early in the first half on a hard shot from inside the 18. I should have been able to make the save, as I was able to get a hand on the ball, but I didn't get quite enough of it to deflect it outside of the post. Our team came back to tie it up before the close of the first half, and we pulled ahead with two goals early in the second, giving me my second win. The other guy gave up a goal late in the half to make the final score 3-2.

Summary
Game 1 W-4-1
Game 2 L-0-6
Game 3 W-3-2

It starts with the shoe. Maybe the next day it's a t-shirt or a sock. You don't know if the washing machine ate it, or your roommate borrowed it a month ago and forgot that it was yours. All you know is that by the end of the week, you're walking to class naked because you don't have any clothes left.
