Vacation
Until further notice I am on vacation. I commented in response to someone elses comment a couple of posts down that I'd take school over work any day. The exception to that is vacations. National holidays the existence of which those of you at LeTourneau have almost forgotten due to lack of respect for said holidays from your institution--you know, labor day, veteran's day, and I'm sure memorial day and the fourth of July if they happened to fall during the school year--not only do I get those days off; I get paid to not go to work. Throw in a couple of days of paid vacation on either side of an already long weekend, and you've got the makings of a great week. Travel, bum, sleep, or whatever else you might like to do. All I know is that I won't be around to post on my blog for a couple of weeks. Not that any of you will probably notice as I don't post for weeks at a time when I am around. So try to enjoy yourselves as you're sitting in class or at work. The best way to do that is to try not to think about me. kicking back. in the exotic location of my choice. oh, and getting paid for it.

Oh, and a quick update on my parents...they both made it in Tuesday morning. Wednesday on my lunch break they came up to everett and we went on the tour of the Boeing plant. Today we fly to Colorado. Now I have to go get my laundry out of the dryer so I can pack before we leave for the airport in about thirty minutes.

UPDATE
I'm not sure what the current situation is with my parents. If things went according to plan, they should be on a plane departing Ninoy Aquino International Airport in Manila right about now. As of a couple of days ago, it sounded like the accident would not affect their travel plans. However, last night I received the following cryptic email from my mom.

Not sure now. Jim Sims and Scott Wolfe arrived Menti at 6:30 just before day light was gone. Thanks for remembering them all. We will cross the next bridge when we get there. See you soon, Love Mom

Don't know exactly what that means. From the, "See you soon," I would assume that at least mom will still be coming. The rest of it makes me wonder if dad won't be able to make it because he has work to do while his superiors (Jim and Scott) are in the country, or if she is not sure about plans for their short stay in the states, or something else that I am not aware of entirely. In any case, your continued prayers are appreciated. One way or another, we'll know how it all worked out in about 15 hours (as in, we'll just have to wait and see who gets off the plane tomorrow). Will let you all know how things turn out. Thanks again.

It starts with the shoe. Maybe the next day it's a t-shirt or a sock. You don't know if the washing machine ate it, or your roommate borrowed it a month ago and forgot that it was yours. All you know is that by the end of the week, you're walking to class naked because you don't have any clothes left.
