THE END
...that's right, no more college, no more blog (at least til I get settled in up north and get my computer set up). As much as I'd like to post pages and pages of nostalgia in this, my last blog from the LU campus, I really don't have the time. Family is up at the hotel waiting for me to call so we can all get together for lunch. So say goodbye forever to Tom Elliott, mechanical engineering student and bandit of LeTourneau University.

Just a quick update on my mom's situation: thanks for your prayers. The paperwork she needed came through at the last minute and she is now somewhere over the pacific. So if anyone needs a ride to Dallas tomorrow, I'll be leaving as soon as I get out of my 9:45-11:45 final.

So the plan has a little glitch in it. My mom called from the airport in Manila this afternoon to tell me that they won't let her leave. Apparently there is some kind of problem with her visa. Hopefully it will be taken care of today and they will let her on a flight tomorrow, but knowing a little bit about the way government bureaucracy works over there it could take weeks or months for things to get straightened out. If you would, please pray that things are resolved quickly and she is still able to come. Thanks.

I may or may not have played the last hockey game of my college career today. Because the season runs into the spring semester, the league has a provision for December graduates that allows them to play through the end of the season in which they graduate. The issue is whether or not I will be able to come back down from Seattle to play in the games which I am entitled to under this provision. Regardless of how that works out, if I never play college hockey again, I would be satisfied with the way it ended. Captain Dave Koutz made his return to the rink after missing all of the previous games this season with a pretty bad knee sprain, and although our roster was shortened by a couple of players who became casualties to studying for finals, I believe we skated with our most solid squad of the season this weekend. After suffering some tough losses in the opening of this season, we rallied this afternoon to win our final game 7-4 on the stregnth of a hat trick from the captain and a pair of goals from myself. If my memory serves me correctly, that was my first multiple-goal game. So, barring a logistical miracle, one more chapter of my life--that of college athletics--has closed for good in the bitter-sweet manner of all such passings. What comes next, only time will tell.
